Interested in Helping to Preserve Open Space?

The Middlesex Land Trust is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of open space in Middlesex County.  We currently manage over 600 acres of land spread throughout the town of East Hampton, Portland, Middletown, Middlefield, Cromwell and Durham. 

We welcome volunteers who would be willing to commit themselves for a few hours per month.  No experience is needed other than a love of open space and a willingness to work with others to preserve it.  Volunteer opportunities range from routine office work, to land and property maintenance and stewardship, to creating a photographic record of our preserves.

This picture was taken in the basement of the Palmer Barn in April 2008. People in the picture (L to R) are John Shomsky, John LeShane, Jeremy Stone, Bruce Livensparger, ART JOHNSON, NANCY LIVENSPARGER, Natasha (John's dog) and another dog. we had just cleaned out the barn in preparation for making it into an activity/meeting center for the Land Trust.

 

 

This large open field visible from Route 66 near St. Clements, is encompassed by the new 80-acre Middlesex Land Trust Taylor-Palmer Preserve in Portland.
